What is Chat GPT? How is it Going to Change the Tech Industry?

Chat GPT has been a pet topic of conversation of late and is widely touted to replace Google search engine in the near future. It is one of the fastest-growing technologies that the world has ever seen. The fact that it took a mere five days for Chat GPT to reach one million users testifies to its popularity.
Chat GPT is basically an artificially intelligent, interactive text generation tool, where one can generate any information by chatting with it. Owned by Open AI, this algorithmic marvel contains virtually all the data that was ever produced in the world. Any kind and amount of information can be fed into this system, by virtue of which, it understands how things work and how humans think about things. Users can ask the chatbot questions and responses are generated based on the vast amount of online data that it is trained on. For example, one can ask the bot to write a poem on themselves and it would produce the desired result in less than a minute!
Chat GPT boasts of a seamless interactivity, drawing more and more users by day. People find it more convenient to use than Google. Because while Google tends to generate a mishmash of results from which the user is expected to pick what he or she wants, Chat GPT gives more pointed, succinct answers.
The following are some professions or job functions where Chat GPT can provide support:
Customer service representatives: Chat GPT can be used to respond to customer queries and resolve issues.
Personal assistants: Chat GPT can assist in scheduling, reminding, and managing emails and appointments.
Content writers: Chat GPT can aid in generating content for blogs, social media, and news articles.
Language translators: Chat GPT can translate texts from one language to another.
Data analysts: Chat GPT can assist in analysing data and generating insights.
Financial analysts: Chat GPT can help in analysing financial data and generating reports.
The above-mentioned list only serves to accentuate how much of a threat is the AI system to many people’s careers. It would not only monopolise whole sets of professions, but would also take over people’s minds and influence their thinking. Some point out that the program can be manipulated to elicit answers to achieve harmful, antisocial goals – ranging from commiting fraud to creating explosives. This has prompted Open AI to place plethora of limitations in Chat GPT mechanics. As a result, the AI engine is much likely to generate information that is more generic in nature—at least for now.
While it is true that the creation of Chat GPT is a giant leap in the advancement of digital technology—opening up unimaginable opportunities as far as storage and retrieval of information is concerned—artificial intelligence cannot be a substitute to human intelligence. It is important to note that creativity is a uniquely human trait, and AI cannot replace the human ability to think, feel, and imagine. In short, AI language models can support human creativity, but cannot replace it. After all, it is intelligence and creativity that make us who we are: human beings.
