Corporate secretary ship is a prestigious and a rewarding career in the branch of commerce. The branch of commerce gives insight knowledge about corporate world and equips the students with various talented like Entrepreneurial, Business professional, Secretarial and managerial skills. The field of study includes corporate law, Accounting, statistical Analysis; cost analysis, leadership, Tax planning and many more which revolves around the theme of commerce and focus like a compass towards the direction of corporate environment.

The study of corporate secretary ship was offered as an under-graduate course at Agurchand Manmull Jain College in 1971 with a main objective of providing a favourable platform for the challenging and rewarding career as a company secretary, Business analyst, and also administrating business. Initially, the department functioned with 7faculties and 420 students. Taking into consideration, the growing demand for company secretaries, in the academic year 2015-16, a new section is added with an additional strength of 60 students. Presently, the department functions with 10faculties and 490 students. The department is fostered with well qualified and experienced faculty members specialized in major trusted areas. The highlighted about the students’ performance reveals university rank holders Ms. Janifer, J. Praveen Kumar, Devi in the academic year 2014-15, a progressive milestone of the department is moulding the students in analytical and research oriented approach by making them participate and present papers in national level conferences in a way to boost their confidence level communication skills and for developing personality enrichment

Single window system for admission is in practice in the college for shift –II (corporate secretaryship) degree course. The curriculum under-graduate course in corporate secretaryship is three years designed by university of madras.

From the academic year 2008-09, Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) with semester pattern was introduced. Credits are assigned and students are awarded degree based on grading system after analysing the required number of credits over the study period and the criteria of clearing each papers put together both internal and external evaluation. Further, the course constitutes major core subjects, allied subjects, languages of his or her choice based on provision and some professional skills like non-major elective and soft skills/Value education. The Non-major elective subject also carries a certain credit. As per the course curriculum, a non- Tamil student has to study Basic Tamil or Advanced Tamil (as the case may be) instead of the non-major elective subject. The curriculum is designed in such a way to enrich the generation by supporting the students for their employability and other challengers to stand on their own in more moral and ethical way and also encourage the students to mark their identify on extra-curriculum activities like NCC, NSS, ROTARACT, CULTURAL, Students council etc.
