Every celebration is all about giving or sharing. This is what A.M. Jain College did on Saturday 14th October as part of its “Joy of the Week” and Diwali Celebrations. The Students Development Council of Shift-I and the Students Welfare Council of Shift-II together organized the program to celebrate the Festival of Lights with over 50 children from Vallalar Kappagam, Gnanavoli Charitable Trust, Chennai and the house keeping staff of A. M. Jain College. The event began at 3 p.m, the children absolutely loved when they saw the play ground. They had different competitions like the Jump ring, hurdles, knock’emdown, and ring toss. The house keeping staff, gardeners, and security personnel’s enjoyed the “Joy of the Week” by dancing, singing, musical chair, stumping and various other activities. Thanks for the generous financial contribution support from the Management, Principal, Dean, Advisor, Chief Manager, teaching, non teaching Staff and Students. As a token of benevolence the college provided provisions for the kappagam for the next fifteen days. The children of Vallalar Kappagam were gifted with new clothes, bags, wrist watches, footwear. This was amongst one of those moments that we can never describe. It was memorable, meaningful and a redeeming evening for all present. The eyes and the smiles of children will linger in our heart for all times to come. All students felt entrenched with the joy of giving and thus we express our deep sense of gratitude to the Management of the college for arranging this “Joy of the Week” by expressing our feelings towards humanity. All of us are so lost in this fanciful world of opulence that we hardly seem to notice the other half of deprivation. We have all the luxuries, yet we always crave for more and more. When we saw these underprivileged children we realized how fortunate we really are.

The quote to remember so aptly comes from Mother Teresa herself – “Love until it hurts”..
